PTO Board Positions
Board positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, two Parent Representatives, and two Teacher Representatives.
Officers are elected at the final PTO membership meeting of the school year (typically held in May). Officers begin their official duties on June 1 and serve a one-year term.
You can nominate yourself or someone else for a position on our PTO board. To do so, please contact us at aspenpto@aspenpto.org or through a PTO board member.
DUTIES OF OFFICERS
President:
The President shall:
1. Preside over all meetings of the organization and Executive Board.
2. Coordinate the work of officers and committees to help carry out the organization’s objectives.
3. Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee.
Vice President:
The Vice President shall:
1. Assist the President and perform the duties of the President in their absence.
2. Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by the President to support the organization’s objectives.
Secretary:
The Secretary shall:
1.. Record minutes of all organization and Executive Board meetings.
2. Make approved meeting minutes available to members by posting them on the School website.
3. Maintain a current copy of the bylaws.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
Treasurer:
The Treasurer shall:
1. Maintain accurate records of all receipts and expenditures of the organization.
2. Present a financial report at each organization meeting and whenever requested by the Executive Board.
3. Promptly pay routine bills that align with the organization’s approved annual budget.
4. Make approved disbursements for requests that comply with the annual budget and have been authorized by the President, Executive Board, or membership.
5. Ensure the Treasurer’s accounts are reviewed annually by a qualified individual or committee, who will verify and sign off on the annual report.
The Parent Representatives:
1. Serve as a liaison between parents and the PTO by sharing ideas, feedback, and concerns that support the school community.
2. Attend monthly PTO meetings and participate in discussions and planning activities.
3. Assist with PTO events, programs, and fundraisers as needed.
4. Help promote PTO activities and encourage parent involvement within the school community.
